The Hill School Wedding Pottstown, PA: Shelly+Dan

i have been anticipating shooting shelly and dan’s wedding since the day they contacted me over 8 months ago to discuss their wedding plans.  maybe it was the tingles in my toes or the fact that this was the first couple to book us that were complete strangers.  either way, i immediately got the sense that this was going to be a truly unique and special wedding.  i should get bonus points for being so right.

lauren & i first met the happy couple in new york city for their engagement shoot in central park back in may.  you may remember the session from their blog post and slideshow.

shelly & dan are high school sweet hearts, so when they told me that they were planning on getting married at their old high school i couldn’t help but smile.  my first thoughts were stinky locker rooms and cheesy cafeteria dances.  well, as it turns out, i was way off.  the hill school in pottstown, pa is a private high school with a beautiful chapel, charming courtyards, and breathtaking views.  the architecture & decor of the school reminded me of the movie harry potter, less the flying wizards of course.  below are some of my favorite moments from the day.  i also wanted to give a special thank you to my awesome second shooter, danielle hopkins for covering for my wife while she was home taking care of the newborn.

Wedding-First-Kiss

the day started off with the girls at the lords and ladies salon in gilbertsville, pa.  the brides hair was masterfully crafted by the very talented, jen mitchell.

even shelly’s soon -to-be niece, baby elizabeth was in awe of how beautiful she looked.

after all the bridesmaids were done getting their hair styled at the salon we all headed back to shelly’s parents house for make-up and dresses.  the bride had her cousin emmy schaaf use her artistic talents to apply her make-up.

some people might say i have a photography shoe fetish.  i’m not sure about that, but these badgley mischka heels that were purchased at perfect details were sexy as hell.

shelly and dan had a large charter bus for their guests at the wedding.  the bus needed to drop everyone off at the bottom of hill because it was too large to drive up the narrow path to the chapel.  with all my camera gear, suitcase of lenses, and legs burning i was able to snag this shot as i passed this crew on my way up.

the groomsmen wore tan pants with their own personal navy blazers, while the bridesmaids wore the cutest green dresses from priscilla of boston.

dan’s grandfather had given this hand watch to his father as a wedding gift back in 1971.  dan carried the watch with him the whole wedding day in memory of his father.

after the ceremony and some picture time with the bride and groom we were off to the cocktail hour that was being held at the headmaster’s garden during the golden hour before the sun began to set.  it was super gorgeous and filled with happy vibes.

i also had the pleasure of meeting catering manager dan katzenmoyer and staff from the hill school who did a superb job on preparing the meals for the evening.

the outdoor dinner reception was held just around the corner in the school’s dining courtyard.  i had the opportunity to sneak up to the top floor of the adjacent building for a little birds eye view.

Rock N’ Roll Baby Portrait: Cruz Dinofa

cruz has just turned 2 weeks old today.  below is a sneak peek of our newborn son getting comfy with my drum set.  if for some reason cruz ends up becoming a musician one day, i would guess this would be the image on his album cover.  i can’t wait till his hair grows in enough that he can rock a mohawk.  yeah, i’m “that” dad. (:  enjoy.

New Hope Engagement Shoot: Julia + Pat

i have been excited to finally introduce all of my blog readers to julia & pat.  i had the pleasure of photographing their engagement shoot last month up in beautiful new hope, pa.  i was shooting solo for this session because lauren was in the final stretch of her pregnancy.  julia & pat were so easy to work with and the day was filled with fun and laughter, even their dog was happy-go-lucky.  i’m looking forward to more amazing times with them at their wedding in washington, dc in mid october.  although, this time lauren will be with me to experience the awesomeness that is julia + pat.  enjoy.

after a little outfit change at the house we all headed down to peddler’s village in lahaska, pa were the light was just gorgeous.

Cruz Madden Dinofa

august 11th has become an amazing day for our family.  on august 11th 2007 i married the most perfect women, lauren.  she is a dream and i am excited everyday to spend the rest of my life with her.  on august 11th 2009 she gave birth to our first son, cruz.  below are some images shot during our stay at the hospital.  enjoy.

this next photo of my wife leaves me breathless every time i look at it.. this was taken just a few hours before labor began..  i think she looks stunning. (:

after the delivery, we had our other two adorable children in the room to get a look at their new baby brother.  i couldn’t be happier with the reaction the baby received from his two older sisters, lily & meadow.  they were just in awe of the little guy.

cruz, welcome to the family.  we love you.

Flanders Hotel Wedding: Mariealena + John

i can’t even begin to tell you how excited i was to photograph the beach wedding of mariealena & john d’agostino.  as many of you may know i like to play poker, my wife would say i like to play a little too much. (;  that’s neither here nor there..  but this bride & groom are in a whole different league of poker which only a few talented people can truly survive.  if you have ever followed the game you may recognize john from his tv final tables during the wpt events or his play on high stakes poker cash games.  they currently live right outside of atlantic city with their two adorable children, isabella and johnny.

the wedding was held at the 11th street beach in ocean city, right across the boardwalk from the historic flanders hotel.  the weather was beautiful, everyone looked amazing, and the details were fantastic.  speaking of details, the flowers and decor where the creation of the very talented, anthony delareto, from somers point florist.  i highly recommend checking them out if you are looking to add some awesome to your next event.

since lauren is 9 months pregnant, she was unable to shoot with me this month. );  her baby bump gave me the opportunity to shoot with another photographer for the day.  i figured i’d start my search at the top, so i called up poker fan and amazing photographer, [b]ecker.  i was a little shocked, to say the least, when he agreed to fly himself across the country to come help me shoot the wedding.  this kind of attitude and willingness to help speaks volumes of him and his character.  i can honestly say that my business would not be where it is today without the information he shares on his blog and the community he created for photographers called the [b]school.

enjoy.
