where are the wedding rings? | johanna+jake

no, seriously, what happened to the wedding rings? before i answer that question let me reintroduce you to this amazing bride and groom. you may remember johanna + jake from their engagement session earlier this summer on the streets and beach of margate, which was one of my favorites from the whole session. they totally rocked it!!

their wedding day had a few twists and turns along the way but this bride and groom took everything in stride and things turned out more incredible than i could have imagined. the first hiccup was when the rain decided to peek it’s ugly little head out earlier in the morning which moved their gorgeous outdoor ceremony to the shelter inside of the linwood country club’s reception ballroom. which turned out beautiful by the way. as you’ll see in the photos below the rain actually held off and produced such an amazing quality of light and gave us some opportunities for some killer reflection photos of the bridal party. total win!!! thank you mother nature.

this is when the wedding ring debacle went down. while shooting the guys formal pictures in the open greens of the golf course, jake came up with an awesome idea to run a football play with his “team”. i’m always game for a little fun during the portrait sessions so i was excited to see the guys loosen up a bit. hut one, hut two, hiiiiike!!! before i knew it the boys were off running a scramble and i was trying to control my laughter long enough to snap a few pictures. shortly after the play ended the best man realizes that is shirt pocket which previously held the wedding rings for the bride and groom was now empty.

that’s right, the rings had fallen out of his shirt pocket onto the grassy field. not knowing exactly where the rings might have landed, the whole bridal party began to search the field looking for a diamond in the rough – literally. luckily, it wasn’t long before the groom’s ring was found. the ceremony was scheduled to start in a few minutes but the bride’s ring was still missing in action. this is when super photographer extraordinaire (that’s me, by the way) came to save the day. i suggested to the best man to recheck his shirt pocket one more time – which he did with no luck. for some reason i wasn’t convinced so i reached my hand in myself for a look see. bang! diamond ring tucked in the bottom corner. (:

Margate NJ | A Day In The Life | Labov Family

it’s always nice when a friend of yours has a baby and you can see how much they enjoy being a parent. this is the case with my old high school buddy, PJ. we attempted to plan a modern family portrait session for his family over this past year, when his daughter natalie was first born. unfortunately PJ and his family live in new york and our schedules continued to conflict every time we tried to figure out a day to shoot the photographs. luckily, the labov family was spending the weekend in margate city, nj last month – which is only a few minutes from my house. needless to say the photoshoot was “ON”. this was the first time i had met his family and i was completely blown away at just how beautiful baby natalie and his wife were. congratulations guys, i had a blast spending the afternoon with you. enjoy.

ENGAGED | jessica + dave

what should you do if you have never been to ocean city, nj before? how about plan yourself a nice little engagement session with dinofa photography. thats exactly what jessica + dave ended up doing and the photo shoot couldn’t have gone any better. we began the session on 12th street in front of the flanders hotel before walking the streets and boardwalk looking for interesting elements to shoot. as the sun began to set we headed onto the beach to round out our day of awesomeness. lauren and i are seriously looking forward to their wedding day in march 2010. by the looks of their engagement session i expect it to be a ridiculously good time. congrats and enjoy.

ENGAGED | maureen + steve

maureen + steve live a few footsteps from the beautiful beaches of sea isle city, nj. so what better place to hold their engagement photography session, right? i met the two of them in front of their house on a perfect late afternoon just a few hours before sunset. their engagement session was casual and fun, just the way i like it. after spending some quality time with these two i’m totally pumped to rock out their wedding day next september. can’t wait to see you guys again soon.

Margate City, NJ Engagement: Jessica+Brad

one stunning, sweet, adorable girl: √ - one handsome, kind, athletic guy: √ – one super dog of awesomeness: √

i can’t say enough wonderful things about jess + brad. i have known brad since high school and have had the pleasure of becoming friends with his beautiful fiance’ jess this last year or so. we all met over in margate for a little walk around the town & beach for their engagement photo session. these two were so fun to hang with for the afternoon (pure happy) and i am seriously considering dognapping their bulldog “chubs” when they head down to the dominican republic for there wedding next week. congratulations guys! i hope you have a blast in the islands, lauren and i will be thinking of you and sending happy vibes over the waters.. enjoy.

i felt like it was only fitting to snag a spider shot for a bride and groom who will be getting married over halloween…

yes, that is a big giant elephant. yes, it is historic to south jersey. yes, it is odd. and yes, i love it.

when chubs finally made an appearance towards the end of the session i had no idea he would go “tasmanian devil” on the basketball. it think he believes he can swallow the ball. however, with the size of that mouth, i wouldn’t put it past him. (;

chubs obeyed.

Eagle Ridge Golf Club, Lakewood NJ Wedding: Jennifer+Erik

lauren and i first met jenn + erik in a small coffee shop right off the beach in long beach island called cafe bacio. after meeting with them for those few short hours we left feeling like we just made two new best friends and we were blown away by their awesomeness. their wedding day couldn’t have come quick enough for us, it seemed like an eternity to finally get the chance to hang with them again. needless to say, it was well worth the wait and their wedding day was a huge success. the beautiful wedding ceremony was held at the saint catharine of siena church in seaside park just a fews blocks down from erik’s mom’s house overlooking the bay. the festivities continued at the eagle ridge golf club for dinner and dancing. the golf course was really amazing, i will have to make a mental note to tell my dad about this place. (: thanks again jenn + erik for allowing us to photograph your wedding day & hang with your wonderful family and friends, we loved every minute of it!! now go start having babies so we can have play dates together.. (: enjoy.

sometimes when photographing kids it helps if you let them take a few pictures of you first acting silly – then they are more likely to cooperate with you when you want to snag a picture of them. but be careful, because kids can get addicted to working a big professional camera and may be by your side all night asking to take pictures. luckily for us, this beautiful flower girl was so sweet that we didn’t mind goofing off with her all day. the below photo captures lauren’s expression after being asked to “get silly with it” by 5 year old sarah.
